There has to be an interesting story here, for several reasons, but the Internet is quiet about it. Obviously, the story of this young man's tragic death could use some light shed upon it, but also how a very modern granite headstone marks an 1870 grave to tell about it. Until I created a record in Findagrave, there was none, suggesting that there was no legible marker for him, and someone, somewhere knew his story and put the headstone in place. It is a simple headstone, with a pair of clasped hands over a cross, with two roses below them, and this inscription:
