The Fire Station looks more like a house, or Visitor Information Centre, as it has a nice verandah, with a picnic table out the front. 'Pin boards' with current information on local Fire Conditions, and other items of interest for the area, provide a V.I.C. feel. There is a wooden pole, just downhill to the west, for the raising, and draining of used fire hoses. And, the day I took these photos, there was a fire assessment vehicle parked out the front. There are three roller doors for the housing of their vehicles.

Interestingly, the majority of the volunteers aren't actually from the Mt Wilson/Mt Irvine localities, but from western Sydney - ex Website below.
Quite a few years ago, my sons and a friend, and myself camped just below the fire station, before heading off on a 'swim-through' canyon trip (Du Faurs/Wollongambe). It is very handy, as there is a toilet at the back of the Fire Station, which is usually open.
The Fire Station was opened on 28th February, 1998 - per plaque.
