According to the nearby historical marker and his Findagrave page, Benson Byron Fussell owned the land that allowed Chapel Hill Cemetery to expand. This land was sold January 23, 1912 to the trustees of the Chapel Hill Methodist Episcopal Church. 37 years later, he was buried on this land.
