Wonderful example of the famed winged lion of Venice located on the west wall of the Library of Adriatic Studies along the Riva dei Sette Martiri in the Castela neighbourhood of Venice.
There is an accompanying marble marker underneath, but time and the elements have all but faded the inscription.
The lion is located on the Palazzini Canonica building, which houses a huge assortment of maps and charts of the Adriatic.
