Die Strecke von Sonthofen nach Oberstdorf, (
visit link) und damit dieser Bahnhof, wurde am 29. Juli 1888 eröffnet. Das im WK II zerstörte Bahnhofsgebäude wurde im Jahr 1963 durch ein neues Bahnhofsgebäude ersetzt. Das heutige Bahnhofsgebäude stammt von 2001.
Im Empfangsgebäude sind das DB-Reisezentrum und mehrere Ladengeschäfte. Für die täglich 40 Züge gibt es 5 Bahngleise. Einen Lageplan mit weiteren Details zum Bahnhof gibt es hier: (

The railway line from Sonthofen to Oberstdorf was opened on 29 July 1888 and this train station as well. The building was destroyed in WW II and rebuilt in 1963. The current building is from 2001.
Within the building you may buy train tickets or go shopping in various shops. 40 trains reach and leave Oberstdorf daily and have 5 tracks.
