This citizen's memorial is located in Hamilton, Ontario on St. Claire Avenue in the park that divides the lanes. Originally there was a plaque attached to the cairn here which describes the creation of Hamilton's first historically designated neighbourhood and can be read here: (visit link)

It is unknown as to why the plaque was removed. A marble tablet beneath where the plaque was is a memorial to Rita Garrett.

The marble memorial reads the following:
"This Cairn and Plaque
Erected By:
The Garrett Family
In Memory Of Rita Garrett
Tista Construction
Ferrell Building Supply
The City of Hamilton
The St. Clair Ave./Blvd Heritage Districts
1999"
Location: St. Clair Ave Park
