Flagship exhibition Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces from the Prado opens at Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) tomorrow.
The exhibition takes up about 70 percent of the South Bank gallery's floorspace and features more than 100 works from Madrid's Museo Nacional del Prado.
Media and sponsors were treated to a preview today ahead of tonight's gala, invitation-only launch with the general public able to view the exhibition from tomorrow.
The opening weekend is a Spanish-style fiesta with tours, lectures and musical performances.
Saturday
11am: Bringing the Prado to Brisbane guest lecture with Prado deputy director Gabriele Finaldi. Free. (Cinema A, GoMA)
12.30-2.30pm: Live Spanish guitar (La Sala del Prado, QAG)
1.30pm: Curator 's perspective tour with QAG's David Burnett (exhibition spaces, QAG)
2.30pm: Artist talk with Francesco Jodice whose two video works accompany Portrait of Spain. Free. (Lecture Theatre, QAG)
3.30pm: Spanish language tour. Bookings required at RSVPprograms@qagoma.qld.gov.au (exhibition spaces, QAG)
Sunday
midday: Curator's perspective tour with QAG's Dr Miranda Wallace (Exhibition spaces, QAG)
2.30pm: Reign and religion in Spain discussion with UQ's Dr Marina Bollinger (Exhibition spaces, QAG)
