In the year 2000, Canada issued ten international rate stamps celebrating that country’s fresh water lakes and rivers (and icebergs). All ten stamps show photographs taken by Mia and Klaus Matthes of Montreal. In fact, Mia Matthes assisted in the selection of photographs and the final design of the stamps.

Lake O’Law is actually one of a series of three lakes called First, Second and Third Lake O’Law (the stamp shows First Lake O’Law). They all can be seen while driving along Nova Scotia’s Cabot Trail. Today, Lake O’Law is a provincial park featuring boating, fishing, swimming and picnicking.
