Old, well kept cemetery. This small church, was damaged during a big storm in 1942, so bad the church had to be rebuilt, so I assume some damage had to also happen to the cemetery next door.
"Organized on August 11, 1861, Harmony Baptist was the “fruit of the missionary labors of Rev. J.F. Smith,” and had 10 original
members. By 1884, the congregation had grown substantially an numbered 76, worshiping in a relatively new church building
constructed in 1880 at a cost of $1400. In the 1910s (and possibly earlier), the church was part of a circuit that shared a minister.
Members of the circuit included Unity, Ebenezer, Harmony and Yucatan Baptist churches. The original building was destroyed by a
storm in 1942. A new building was constructed in 1950.
"Harmony Baptist is a side gable church with concrete foundation, brick walls and a metal roof. It is a one story building with raised
basement. The façade slightly asymmetrical with an off-center entrance and entry porch. The porch is a one bay wide, open gable
front with rounded porch posts. To the south of the porch are two 1/1 sash windows on the first floor and three small two-light windows
in the basement. To the north of the entrance are three 1/1 sash windows. Centered between two of these windows is a small gable
front projection with an entrance apparently leading to the basement. The facades asymmetry may be due to a post 1950 addition.
Additionally, the brick and porch appear to be more recent (c. 2000?) alterations to the property." ~ Missouri Department of Natural Resources, PDF page 324, survey May 2010
