While the local track is called the Benowie Track, it is a part of the Great North Walk, from Circular Quay, in Sydney, to Newcastle, with this entry point at Berowra Waters.

The Benowie Track is a 25 km section from Thornleigh to Berowra, and is one of the intermediate legs of the 250 km Sydney to Newcastle walk. Many people do this section as an isolated walk, as it is so convenient to public transport and car changes don't need to be organised. (visit link)

I have personally walked the Benowie Track (from Pennant Hills to Cowan), a couple of times over the decades, starting in the 1970s. I don't think I will ever do the complete Great North Walk. [Though I have been to Circular Quay heaps of times, and quite a few times to Newcastle.]
