John M. Shaw was born on October 2, 1834 and passed away on December 28, 1913 at the age of 79 years.

Also interred with John is his wife, Candace L. Shaw. She was born on July 30, 1846 and passed away on January 20, 1933 at the age of 86 years.

The dove of peace is at the upper portion of the headstone.

Mountain View Cemetery is located in Stillwater County in Columbus, Montana. Columbus is also the county seat. Columbus first named Sheep Dip as it originated as a stagecoach station on the Yellowstone River. In 2016 there were approximately 2,028 residents.

Mountain View Cemetery is approximately 10 acres in size. There are approximately 2,420 known interments. There are many Woodman of the World similar grave makers throughout the cemetery. The cemetery was first establish around 1904 with the first known interment of:

Arthur C. Campbell born on February 14, 1873 and passed away on December 2, 1904. He was 31 when he passed away, may he rest in peace.
