Large male lion situated as part of the Giuseppe Garibaldi Monument in Venice's City Park Gardens. The monument, completed in 1895 by artist Augusto Benvenuti, pays homage to Garibaldi, considered one of the greatest Generals in Italian history and a major factor in the Unification of Italy in the 19th century.
The lion symbolizes both the Lion of Venice, and the strength, courage and tenacity of Garibaldi.
