Green Acres Park Outdoor Ice Rink - Stoney Creek, ON - Ice Skating Rinks on Waymarking.com

This is one of the many small seasonal ice rinks located in city parks across the city of Hamilton. There are 40 such rinks.

The seasonal outdoor ice rink located at Green Acres Park is a circular ice surface without boards. There is a single bench available for sitting on with lacing up the skates. Local residents volunteer to flood the ice, when weather permits and as required.
The official entrance to the park is off Queenston Rd, and there is a large parking lot a short distance from the rink. Street-side parking on Valley Drive offers a more convenient parking option.

Outside of winter there is nothing to show the presence of a season ice surface except for the sign posted on the small utility shed door (posted coordinates for this waymark and photo shown in gallery). If you visit this waymark outside of the winter season, post a photo of the sign as your proof of visit.

"Outdoor ice rinks are operated in City parks by community volunteer committees. There is no fee to use the ice rink and there are no equipment skates, helmet, sticks rentals available. When the rink is operational it is open until 11 pm nightly then the lights are shut off.
Outdoor ice may have more imperfections bumps, ruts, soft spots, etc. than indoor ice. Use of sport sticks hockey, ringette, etc. is allowed on outdoor ice rinks but slap shots are not allowed. Parks may have posted times where the rink is designated for Pleasure Skating Only and this equipment is not allowed."
