This lovely memorial is located just inside the entrance to Hewitt Cemetery.

Hewitt Cemetery is located on Hewitt Road, about 1.5 miles east of the town of Wilson. Immediately inside the entrance is this gray granite monument honoring those who served in wars from the Civil War to the present.
There are three granite slabs, with the center one highest and engraved with a flag and eagle. An American flag flies above the monument. The monument stands on a rusticated granite base. Approximately 300 names are engraved, with the Civil War, Indian Wars and Spanish American War specifically cited. The seals of four branches of the military are shown along with the dedication.
Dedicated in honor and memory of those who sereved our country in times of war and peace.
