The plaque says, "In honor of Thomas Gorsuch Young commemorating the 10th year of his presidency of Oak Lawn Cemetery. He assumed his duties May 18, 1918 as a labor of love. He enhanced the natural beauty of the land with trees, flowers and lawns to make this cemetery fitting abode for the beloved dead.
"Nothing can be compared to a faithful friend, and no Weight of Gold and Silver is able to be countervail the Goodness of his fidelity"
