One of two time capsules buried behind the statue James Pinkney Henderson, first governor of Texas, on the north side of the San Augustine County Courthouse grounds.
The gray granite monument marking the spot of the time capsule reads as follows:
"[San Augustine Bicentennial logo]
"THE CRADLE OF TEXAS"

Bicentennial -- Time Capsule
is buried here
Capsule is a wooden box, encased in a thick coat of fiberglass, and is completely surrounded in heavy concrete, buried about 18 inches deep. Capsule is to be opened on July 4, 2076."
