This historic building in the west of Burgdorf was an asylum and hospital in the 13th century, a slaughterhouse in the 19th, a prison in the 20th and now houses a museum dedicated to the works of the sculptor Bernhard Luginbühl.

EN: The old slaughterhouse of Burgdorf has housed the Museum Bernhard Luginbühl since 2004. The artist is primarily famous for his iron sculptures and incinerations, but has also created many other works.
The old slaughterhouse on the Metzgergasse is a listed building of Gothic origin. It was built in the 13th century as a retirement and medical shelter for the poor and also has its own chapel. In 1838 it was rebuilt into a municipal slaughterhouse and in the 20th century it served as a prison until 1985. After that it was empty until the opening of the museum in 2004.
DE: Das alte Schlachthaus von Burgdorf beherbergt seit 2004 das Museum Bernhard Luginbühl. Der Künstler ist vor allem durch seine Eisenplastiken und Verbrennungsaktionen berühmt, hat aber auch viele andere Werke geschaffen.
Das alte Schlachthaus an der Metzgergasse ist ein denkmalgeschütztes Gebäude gotischen Ursprungs. Es wurde im 13. Jahrhundert als Alters- und Krankenasyl für die Armen gebaut und enthält auch eine eigene Kapelle. 1838 wurde es zum städtischen Schlachthaus umgebaut und im 20. Jahrhundert diente es bis 1985 als Gefängnis. Danach stand es bis zur Eröffnung des Museums 2004 leer.
