The measure system of the early 18th century goes back to the DRESDNER ELLE (56.638 cm) for Saxony, resulting in the following: 8 cubits are a ROD = 4.531 m, 1000 rods are HOUR = 4.531 km and 2 hours are MP = 9.062 km. The information on the Post Milestones are measured in hours, which was at that time a distance measurement. A man or a horse could cover an average of about 4.5 km in one hour, which shows the practical reference to this distance determination.
Description:
The city, which was located on an old imperial road, received one of the oldest stone bridges in Germany between 1230-44, with two gate towers. Since before her the streets forked to Hof, Oelsnitz and Reichenbach, between 1725 and 1732 at this point a distance column was erected. Around 1860, the bridge was widened and the column removed. She has since disappeared. In 1986, a replica of the column was erected at the historic site. At the time the inscriptions were not written.
