The plaque is located along the Bruce Trail, close to the New Mountain Road side-trail. It is place to acknowledge the donation of land to the Bruce Trail Conservancy. The plaque reads:
IN RECOGNITION OF CLARENCE BICK AND JOHN DEKKER FOR THEIR GENEROUS DONATION OF LAND TO THE BRUCE TRAIL CONSERVANCY. JUNE 28, 2013.
I didn't find anything online about this donation, aside from it being included in a list of donations in the WINTER 2013 / 2014 Bruce Trail Magazine. The same publication lists the donated property, apply named the Dekker and Bick property, as being 3.9 acres (1.6 ha) in size and as "Property generously donated by the Landowner"
The Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath, provides the only continuous public access to the magnificent Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Running along the Escarpment from Niagara to Tobermory, it spans more than 890 km of main Trail and over 400 km of associated side trails.
The Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC) is a charitable organization committed to establishing a conservation corridor containing a public footpath along the Niagara Escarpment, in order to protect its natural ecosystems and to promote environmentally responsible public access to this UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
The BTC is one of Ontario's largest land trusts, responsible for the preservation of almost 10,000 acres of irreplaceable Niagara Escarpment landscape.
