His tall marble headstone in the Tarago cemetery is shared with his grandparents. The Australian War Memorial, which includes his photograph, records that he was a private with the 18th Australian Infantry Battalion & met his death on 4 August 1916 in France. His name appears on the Roll of Honour which records those who were killed during the war.
