Tarago is the town between two lakes, namely Lake George to the south-west and Lake Bathurst to the north-east.
Entering Tarago from the point of this welcome sign you are promptly given the impression from the surrounding townscape that there is nothing to this town.
As you cruise down the road you pass a school, a sports venue, church and a two-pump petrol station. Before your eyes, the rural landscape opens up and the open road disappears into the distance, and you're thinking 'That's Tarago, what an exciting little place to live,' ... (tongue in cheek). But then from behind a large tree appears a hotel and you're wondering what on earth a little hotel like this is doing out in the middle of virtually nowhere. But I can tell you now this is by no means nowhere.
Turn the corner at the 'Loaded Dog Hotel' and more of this little town appears.
