The school was probably built in the early 1900s when villages and towns were replacing the rural one room school houses with centralized schools. It is Art Deco style, there are decorative panels above the entrances and between windows. There are panels with natural elements surrounded with zigzags.

"Otego Elementary School will close its doors on Aug. 31, following a 6-1 decision by the Unatego Central School Board of Education at its regular Monday meeting. More than 50 people attended the session in the Junior-Senior High School cafeteria in Wells Bridge. The meeting was moved from the board of education room because of the turnout, but remained cordial."
