""Organized in 1911 by Hazel Arthur Wiester the first teacher for the San Ramon Valley's one room school. Called "Mother's Club"; in the beginning, the club was established to bring closer relations between parents, teacher and school.

The name was changed to "Danville Women's Club" when the club became a federated club in 1919 with the state. We are members of the GFWC California Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), one of the world's largest women's nondenominational, nonpartisan, international service organizations of volunteer women with over 100,000 members in 4,000 clubs within the United States and a dozen countries.

The club joined the General Federation of Women's Clubs in 1939. In 2003 the Danville Women's Club changed their name to "GFWC Danville Women's Club". We are one of over 282 clubs in the state of California." (visit link)
