FR L'endroit : la fontaine Miollis
Cette fontaine a été installée par la famille Fonsclombe devant le couvent de la visitation en 1671 qui était sur cette place, autrefois appelée place des Grands Boulevards.
De forme ovale, le bac inférieur est surmonté d'un bac rond, bien plus petit d'où sort l'eau avant de s'écouler plus bas.

La Personne : Sextius Alexandre François de Miollis
Militaire, il fait campagne lors de la guerre d'indépendance des États-Unis, Italie et devient gouverneur de la ville de Mantoue. Il participe à la campagne de Toscane, combat à Vérone, à Gênes, à Florence.
Il devient Gouverneur de Belle-Île-en-Mer puis de Mantoue, Commandant des troupes françaises en Italie, il occupe Venise
Le 2 février 1808, le général Miollis s'empare de Rome et des États pontificaux. Devenu commandant de la division française à Rome, puis lieutenant du gouverneur-général, il exerce l'occupation avec le plus d'égard possible pour le pape Pie VII.
Il est fait comte de l'Empire, fait hisser le drapeau français sur le château Saint-Ange, procède à l'arrestation du Souverain Pontife dans la nuit du 5 au 6 juillet 1809.
Le général Miollis est fait chevalier de Saint-Louis, Louis XVIII lui confie les départements des Bouches-du-Rhône et du Vaucluse.
Napoléon Ier l’appelle pendant les Cent-Jours au commandement de Metz, où il reste jusqu'au mois d'août 1815, époque où il est mis à la retraite.
Le général Miollis meurt à Aix-en-Provence le 18 juin 1828, âgé de 69 ans, en se frappant la tête sur le coin d'une table en tombant.

EN The place : Miollis Fountain
This fountain was installed by the family Fonsclombe in front of the convent of the visitation in 1671 which was on this place, formerly called Place des Grands Boulevards.
Oval shape, the lower tray is surmounted by a round tray, much smaller from which the water comes out before flowing lower.

The Person: Sextius Alexandre François de Miollis.
Military, it campaigns during the war of independence of the United States, Italy and becomes governor of the city of Mantua. He participates in the Tuscany campaign, fighting in Verona, Genoa, Florence.
He becomes Governor of Belle-Ile-en-Mer then Mantua, Commander of the French troops in Italy, he occupies Venice
On February 2, 1808, General Miollis seized Rome and the Papal States. Having become commander of the French division at Rome, then lieutenant of the governor-general, he exercises the occupation with the greatest possible regard for Pope Pius VII.
He is made count of the Empire, has hoisted the French flag on the Castel Sant'Angelo, proceeds to the arrest of the Sovereign Pontiff in the night of 5 to 6 July 1809.
General Miollis is made knight of Saint Louis, Louis XVIII entrusts him the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse. Napoleon I called him during the Hundred Days at the command of Metz, where he remained until August 1815, when he was retired.
General Miollis dies in Aix-en-Provence on June 18, 1828, aged 69, by beating his head on the corner of a table while falling.
