Texas Historic Site Atlas

Constructed in 1885, this is the fourth of six county jails. It was built by C.F. Priess and Brother, contractors, at a cost of $9,962 and was used until 1939. The ashlar masonry structure is similar to many other contemporary jails in Texas. Its corbeled cornice is perhaps its chief exterior decorative feature.
