Located at the northern former entrance to Laurel Cemetery is a cemetery arch containing the cemetery name along with a metal plaque hanging underneath that reads:

DEDICATED FROM MEMORIAL FUND OF J.M. (JACK) SMOCK
MERCHANT AND FOUNDER OF HOLLAND, OREGON. A FRIEND TO ALL
