FR Cette fontaine a été construite en 1620. Deux siècles après, en 1820, elle est reconstruite entièrement. C'est alors qu'on la décore d'une colonne romaine provenant du palais comtal, sur l'emplacement de l'actuel palais de justice.

L'assise de la fontaine est en pierre froide de Peynier, et l'ensemble avait été dessiné par un architecte aixois M. Beisson.

Longtemps ses versures, c'est-à-dire l'eau qui s'écoulait du bassin, ont été utilisées pour remplir le bassin de la gare afin d'alimenter le train des Alpes au temps des locomotives à vapeur.

Elle est l'une des quatre fontaines publiques à être encore alimentées par des sources.
EN This fountain was built in 1620. Two centuries later, in 1820, it was completely rebuilt. It is then decorated with a Roman column from the county palace, on the site of the current courthouse.

The seat of the fountain is in cold stone Peynier, and the set was designed by an architect Aix Beisson.

For a long time its versures, that is to say the water which flowed from the basin, were used to fill the basin of the station in order to feed the train of the Alps at the time of the steam locomotives.

It is one of four public fountains still to be fed by springs.
