The Ship of State features on the amorial keystone in the arch-head broken pediment of Tynwald (Legislative Building) on Propsect Hill.

The amorial keystone also bears the date 1893 which Patricia Tutt in An Introduction to the Architecture of the Isle of Man say "...an optimisitc year too early as usual," This is because the construction of the building was in 1894.

The architect of the building was James Cowle and construction of the building ran from 1891 to 1894. The first sitting of the Tynwald court in the building was on 20th December 1894.

The building also features other relief art below both oriels and has intricate detail in the remainder of the door case with its acanthus leaf scolled brackets.
