André Campra
André Campra, né à Aix-en-Provence le 4 décembre 1660 est un compositeur français ayant participé au renouveau de l'opéra français.
Formé à la cathédrale Saint-Sauveur à Aix-en-Provence, il accède au poste de maître de musique de Notre-Dame de Paris, après l'avoir été à Toulon, à Arles et à la cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Toulouse.
Il est ensuite « batteur de mesure » à l'Académie royale de musique (l'Opéra de Paris) dont il deviendra l'inspecteur général.
Il dirigera aussi les musiciens et les pages de la Chapelle royale (essentiellement des chanteurs - des chantres - adultes et des garçons en cours de formation) et en sera un des deux compositeurs « ordinaires », jusqu'à ce qu'il se retire en 1735, pour des raisons de santé.
Il est l'auteur de nombreuses œuvres profanes notamment dans le domaine de l'opéra-ballet (dont il a été le vrai créateur). Il composera un nombre également important de partitions religieuses.

André Campra
André Campra, born in Aix-en-Provence on December 4, 1660 is a French composer who participated in the revival of French opera.
Trained at the Saint-Sauveur cathedral in Aix-en-Provence, he attained the position of music master of Notre-Dame de Paris, after having been to Toulon, Arles and Saint-Etienne cathedral. Toulouse. He is then "drummer" at the Royal Academy of Music (Paris Opera) which he will become the Inspector General. He will also lead the musicians and the pages of the Royal Chapel (mostly singers - singers - adults and boys in training) and will be one of the two "ordinary" composers, until he retired in 1735 for health reasons.
He is the author of many secular works, particularly in the field of opera-ballet (of which he was the real creator). He will compose an equally important number of religious partitions.
