The hamlet of Kirkton of Craig which consists of a few dwellings and the former church, is situated on a rise a mile south of Montrose, and half a mile from the village of Ferryden. This wall box is embedded into a tall wall on the south side of the road. The box is in good condition mainly due to copious amounts of red paint with the letters V & R prominent at the top with a crown in between.
