FR Edifié entre 1323 et 1425, le clocher est un élément incontournable du décor aixois. Point le plus haut de la ville, il est de plan carré à la base (10m de côté) et octogonal au sommet. Il se divise en quatre niveaux, dont les deux premiers prennent appui sur le mur roman de la nef Sainte-Marie.

Le premier niveau, qui servit de salle capitulaire, était à l'origine ouvert sur trois côté, permettant la circulation vers une rue donnant accès au cimetière, aujourd'hui disparue. Ces accès furent murés à la fin du XV° siècle.

Le deuxième niveau est une salle qui a servi de prison jusqu'au XVII° siècle.

Le troisième niveau, doté de grandes ouvertures murales, servait de clocher pour les grandes cloches.

Le dernier niveau, le plus haut et de plan octogonal, servait pour les petites cloches. La hauteur au sommet atteint 48m50.
EN Built between 1323 and 1425, the bell tower is an essential element of the decoration of Aix. The highest point of the city, it is square at the base (10m side) and octagonal at the top. It is divided into four levels, the first two of which rest on the Romanesque wall of the nave Sainte-Marie.

The first level, which served as a chapter house, was originally open on three sides, allowing traffic to a street giving access to the cemetery, now disappeared. These accesses were walled at the end of the XV century.

The second level is a room that served as a prison until the 17th century.

The third level, with large wall openings, served as a bell tower for large bells.

The last level, the highest and octagonal plan, was used for small bells. The height at the top reaches 48m50.
