I recovered this U.S. Geological Survey BM from 1904 in good condition. It is a pipe cap in a concrete sleeve and projecting about five inches above the ground. There is a metal witness post next to the cap for easier recovery. A tree is encroaching on the concrete sleeve. This mark is listed on a topography map as 'BM 938'. The cap contains the elevation stamping of '936.9' stamped on its face. The NGS datasheet description is adequate for station recovery. My posted coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1961 IN WILDERVILLE. ABOUT 0.2 MILE WEST OF THE POST OFFICE AT WILDERVILLE, 29 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 199, 33 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF AN OLD DRIVE WAY INTO A HAY FIELD, ACROSS THE HIGHWAY 62 FEET NORTH NORTHWEST OF POWER LINE POLE NO. B 5650, ABOUT 3-FEET HIGHER THAN THE HIGHWAY, IN THE OLD FENCE LINE, AND ABOUT 1-FOOT EAST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. A STANDARD CAP RIVETED TO THE TOP OF A 3-1/2-INCH IRON PIPE IN A CONCRETE-FILLED TILE PROJECTING ABOUT 8-INCHES.
