The Presidio San Saba was a fortress constructed in 1757 and designed to protect Spanish interests in the region, including nearby Mission Santa Cruz de San Saba.

This two panel mural depicts life as the artist imagines it might have been at the Presidio.
The left panel shows two Spanish soldiers on horseback, one of which is holding a red and white flag, riding past working natives. Next there is a rock archway with two priests talking to two Indians, one of which is wearing a blue headdress. Next there are two more priests and two wheeled oxcart. Next are men building a wall.
The right panel shows natives working. Behind them is a log building. Next is a shoulder riding a horse and another native plowing with oxen. There are two priests and more natives. At the end is a corn field with Indians hiding in it preparing to attack.
