This medallion is one of 16 in the series of Discover Sculptures found around Lanesboro. “History” is located at Church Hill Scenic Overlook at the edge of the Lutheran Church parking lot. The theme of this sculpture is the history of Lanesboro, using images such as railroad memorabilia, early settlers, a bucket and pharmaceutical bottles, all encircled with rope. The artwork was done in 2001 under the direction of British sculptor Coral Lambert and assisted by local artist Karl Unnasch.
