The Jurby Transport Museum (Thie Arraghey Yurby) can be found in a former RAF Bellmans Aircraft Hanger on the former RAF Jurby airfield in the north of the Island.

The Museum is operated by Manx Transport Trust Ltd which is a registered Isle of Man charity.

The Trust is dedicated to the continued conservation and preservation of interesting and valuable vehicles from the Island's past.

The displays in the museum are an eclectic mix of passenger service vehicles from the Isle of Man Road Services and Douglas Corporation. (visit link)

The collection also includes a number of vintage cars, and commercial vehicles. The exhibits which were new in 2016 were a 1950 Fordson E83W van, a 1950's Dennis Fire engine wheel escape and a 1938 Ford drop head convertible. The collection is constantly changing and there will more new vehicles in 2017. A flavour of the exhibits can be seen on flickr (visit link)

The Museum welcomes school/educational groups particularly on Tuesday as the Museum is open and staffed on that day.

There is plenty of free parking immediately in front of the Museum.

All areas of the Museum (including the toilets) have wheelchair access.
Tony Brown was Chief Minister of the Isle of Man from 14 December 2006 to 11 October 2011.

James Anthony “Tony” Brown OBE was born in Castletown on 5 January 1950 and was educated at Victoria Road Primary, Castletown and Castle Rushen High School.

During his career in the Island’s national government Tony Brown held the follow positions:
Minister of Health and Social Security 1986-89
Minister of Local Government and the Environment 1989-94
Minister of Tourism and Leisure 1994-96
Minister of Transport 1996-2001
Chief Minister 2006-11

Tony Brown first entered the political arena in 1976 when he was elected as a member of Castletown Commissioners. He became Chairman of the Commissioners in 1980 and then was elected to the House of Keys as member for Castletown in 1981.

Tony became Deputy Speaker of Tynwald in January 2002 and became Speaker of the House of Keys after the 2006 General Election. He did not initially put his name forward to be Chief Minister in 2006 but after the first round of voting failed to produce a winner he did put his name forward and was elected unopposed. Following his appointment as Chief Minister he resigned as Speaker.

Tony did not stand again at the 2011 general election and retired from public life. In 2013 his public and political service was acknowledged when he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
