EN: The headquarters of the Neue Aargauer Bank is located on the Bahnhofstrasse, just west of the station.
The house was built in 1912-13 by the famous architects Curjel & Moser in neo-Baroque style with Art Nouveau elements. The ornaments and sculptures were created by sculptor Otto Kappeler.
The symmetrical house has nine windows axes and a mansard roof. Above the high entrance is a relief with two female figures and the then name of the bank, Allgemeine Aargauische Ersparniskasse. At the top of the non-protruding central risalit with a round copper roof is another relief depicting the god Hermes. The house was already listed in 1976 and renovated in 2000, when some subsequent changes to the facade were reversed. However, at the back of the originally U-shaped building a large modern office building was added in the 1990s.
DE: Das Hauptquartier der Neuen Aargauer Bank befindet sich an der Bahnhofstrasse etwas westlich gegenüber des Bahnhofs.
Das Haus wurde 1912-13 von den berühmten Architekten Curjel & Moser in neubarockem Stil mit Jugenstil-Elementen erbaut. Die Ornamente und Skulpturen schuf Bildhauer Otto Kappeler.
Das symmetrische Haus hat neun Fensterachsen und ein Mansarddach. Über dem hohen Eingang befindet sich ein Relief mit zwei Frauenfiguren und dem damaligen Namen der Bank, Allgemeine Aargauische Ersparniskasse. An der Spitze des nicht vorspringenden Mittelrisalits mit rundem Kupferdach befindet sich ein Relief, das den Gott Hermes darstellt. Das Haus wurde schon 1976 unter Denkmalschutz gestellt und um 2000 renoviert, wobei einige nachträgliche Änderungen der Fassade wieder rückgängig gemacht wurden. An der Rückseite des ursprünglich U-förmigen Gebäudes wurde allerdings in den 1990er Jahren ein grosses modernes Bürogebäude angebaut.
