The stone chapel is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built on land donated to the city by the founder of Colorado Springs, William Palmer. The chapel has been restored, with work beginning in 1994 and continuing as needed.

The cemetery is the largest in Colorado Springs. It bears the graves of the city's founder as well as other pioneers in the city's history. It is currently 220 acres in size, and is still an active burial site. Walking tours of the cemetery are conducted each year by local history aficionados in period costumes to explain the significance of some of the most well-known persons who are buried there.
