The American Legion building is a two-story white rock building, with its original entrance facing Texas Avenue on the north. Constructed in 1937-38 by the WPA, the windows are six-over-six and have stone sills. The single entry door is wood/glass. The length of the building which is slightly lower in height has five large window openings which have been infilled with rock and are located between rock pilasters. Above the center three of these former windows are small louvered vents.

On the west end, an extension has been added facing 9th Street using slightly varying rock, as an entrance to an known as The Pioneer Room - a community meeting area for rent. A complex of buildings has been added to the south which is occupied by the Police Department and other City offices.
