This factory opened in 1912, making SMLE rifles, with production increased during World War One. While making rifles in the inter-period was the main intention, there was other, commercial/domestic items made, including Golf Clubs. In World War Two, Vickers machine guns, and Bren guns were also made at Lithgow.
In 2006 the government owned, but corporatised company was sold. It still makes Rifles, and Handcuffs.

There is also a volunteer-run Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum at the front of the complex. Very worthwhile to check it out.
