Cette église aurait dû être bâtie par la ville d'Arles il y a plus d'un siècle. ( Port St Louis n'était pas encore une commune et dépendait de la ville d'Arles). Mais la somme perçue pour reconstruire celle détruite a servi pour faire les quais du Rhône. La nouvelle église fut donc construite qu'avec des dons privés et devint propriété de l'évêché après la séparation de l'église avec l'état.

L'église dispose d'un clocher depuis 1997 grâce à l'association " Le Clocher de la Paix ".

Ce nouveau clocher mesure 26 mètres et dispose de 3 cloches qui sont :
- Anaïs, en souvenir d'une petite Saint Louisienne victime de la mucoviscidose,
- Alain, en souvenir du trésorier de l'association, victime du rumathisme, si dévoué aux oeuvres humanitaires,
- Julie, en souvenir d'une mère de famille (11 enfants) victime du cancer.

This church should have been built by the city of Arles more than a century ago. (Port St Louis was not yet a municipality and depended on the city of Arles). But the sum collected to rebuild the destroyed one was used to make the banks of the Rhone. The new church was built only with private donations and became property of the bishopric after the separation of the church with the state.

The church has a steeple since 1997 thanks to the association "The Bell Tower of Peace".

This new bell tower measures 26 meters and has 3 bells which are:
- Anaïs, in memory of a small Saint-Louisian victim of cystic fibrosis,
- Alain, in memory of the treasurer of the association, victim of the rumathisme, so devoted to the humanitarian works,
- Julie, in memory of a mother (11 children) victim of cancer.
