This trailhead and parking area is located within the Allegheny National Forest, Pennsylvania (near the intersection of Pennsylvania State Route 321 and the Longhouse National Scenic Byway).
There is a large parking area located here. And while the nearby sign states "Longhouse Trailhead", there is no apparent "Longhouse" trail (although the North Country National Scenic Trail crosses the Longhouse National Scenic Byway only a short distance away from the parking area). This parking area is likely used for hikers on the North Country National Scenic Trail or for access to the Allegheny Snowmobile Loop (ASL). This parking area is plowed during winter activity season. It may also serve as a parking area for those wishing to travel along the Longhouse National Scenic Byway via bicycle, as it is one of the few designated bike routes in the Allegheny National Forest.
This trailhead/information point is located at the intersection of Forest Road 262 and State Route 321. It is the southern most anchor point of the Longhouse National Scenic Byway and acts as the southern entry point to the Allegheny Reservoir Area (map and reservoir information present).
The hardened parking area accesses the North Country National Scenic Trail (short connector trail west of the parking lot) and to the Allegheny Snowmobile Loop (ASL). This parking area is plowed during winter activity season.
