This tall, gray granite slab has their flint arrowhead insignia -- evoking "Indian Territory", modern-day Oklahoma -- with a "T" for Texas inside. Accompanying it are the insignia of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, a castle, and an older, obsolete heraldic crest for the unit, featuring an eagle's head superimposed upon an oak leaf, with "Fortis et Fidelis" -- "Brave and Faithful" -- underneath. The oak leaf represents participation in the Meuse-Argonne operation, while the eagle's head represents participation in the St. Mihiel campaign, both during World War I. The memorial reads:

their country two officers and
eighty-five enlisted men left Bowie
on November 25, 1940, and others
who joined later, served with
dignity and honor during World
