Along with the map showing where you are at the Viewing Platform of the Hydroplus Fusegates, there is a cross-sectional diagram of the dam.

Below which is the "Welcome to Lake Lyell", by Energy Australia.

"Lake Lyell was built to supply water for Wallerawang and Mount Piper power stations. It is owned by Energy Australia.

"Stage 1 of the concrete faced rockfill dam was constructed on the Coxs River in 1982. The total capacity was 27,000 megalitres.

"Stage 2 of the dam's construction was completed in 1995, increasing the spillway capacity and raising the total storage capacity to 34,500 megalitres.

"In times of drought, it's hard to believe that in 2002, a spillway control system was installed to aid flood control from the lake.

"While you are in the area, we invite you to visit the Energy Expo at Mount Piper Power Station to learn more about the generation of electricity.

"For further information contact Mt Piper Power Station on 6354 8111 or visit our website www.energyaustralia.com.au "
