At the corner of 3rd and Main in downtown Seiling, VFW Post 9524 has erected a veterans memorial park honoring those who have served to preserve the free world.
At the east side of this area is the anchor to the third USS Alexander Hamilton (SSBN-617) ballistic missile submarine. The anchor is mounted on top of a 2 ft. high concrete and brick platform. The story of this vessel is engraved on a polished monument in front of the anchor. The wording was difficult to read due to the reflection, but reads almost identically to the wording as shown on the Wikipedia website (

The submarine was decommissioned in 1993.
