This siege mortar, along with its companion mortar and the Venetian cannon, all date to the 1716 siege of Corfu, where a group of 5,000 Venetian soldiers successfully defended the Old Fortress from 33,000 invading Ottoman Turks.
The local Rotary Club, along with the 21st Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities, donated this piece to the Old Fortress in June, 2010.
