The ISS passed Boise at 17:40:55 MST, Golden at 17:43:40 MST, Bethany at 18:45:36 CST and Melder at 18:46:55. Time from Boise to Denver - 2:45 (825 miles), time from Denver to Bethany - 1:56 (580 miles), and Bethany to Melder - 1:19 (395 miles). Total time : 6:00:00. Total distance covered = 1800 miles.
Conditions at Bethany (my front yard)- clear skies, 42 degrees. The ISS came into view a bit more to the west than I had anticipated. I had my camera set on a tripod to try to catch a photo, had to re-adjust. I had a "bulb" attachment to take a timed exposure. I took 3 photos, all different lengths of time. I hope I get something out of it. If so, I will add the picture to the waymark.
EDIT: pictures did not come out.
What did I learn from this -- it takes quite a lot of coordination to set this up for more than 1 other person to do the sighting. But, the chance of getting 4 people to see this same pass was worth it. Without starting Waymarking and seeing this category, I may never have learned how to find out when to see the ISS pass, and would not have been able to show it to my family as it passed.
