The town of Kingfisher was established on April 22, 1889 during the Land Run that opened up this part of Oklahoma. A portion of land was set aside for government operation, with the opening of the land run office which recorded the newly established land ownership. A post office operated out of a tent alongside this land office. After moving the post office to a small building across the street, and then back to the government land in the early 1900's, a post office building was built in 1913. That building housed the post office until 1976, when this building was constructed.

This is a one-story brick building with a wall of display windows flanking its entrance. The post office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, and on Saturday from 10:00am to 11:30am.
