The sign has the following information about the Sea Eagle:

"Sea Eagle Lookout and the picnic area below were named in recognition of the White-bellied Sea Eagle ('Haliaeetus leucogaster'), a native resident of the Reserve. It is listed on the China a nd Australia Migratory Bird Agreement and occurs along the coast and large lowland rivers and lakes.

"The White-bellied Sea Eagle is a large white and grey eagle with unfeathered cream legs and feet. Its body is seventy to ninety centimetres long and it wing span is two metres.

"It soars in majestic circles and watches water bodies from large trees. It hovers low over prey, or makes sloping power-dives from a height or high perch to seize fish, waterbirds or offal from the water surface. It seldom enters the water.

"They can be found in singles, territorial pairs or family groups. Their call is a far-carrying metallic clanking, and mated pairs may duet. Their large nests are made of sticks located in tall trees near water, on the ground on islands, or on remote coastal cliffs."

[The sign was placed as part of the Centenary of Federation.]
