Das Schloss liegt inmitten des etwa eintausend Hektar großen Waldgebiets der Granitz in der Gemeinde Binz, welches seit 1991 zum Biosphärenreservat Südost-Rügen gehört.
Das Granitzer Jagdschloss wurde In den Jahren 1837 bis 1846 durch den Berliner Architekten und Baumeister Johann Gottfried Steinmeyer (1780–1854) im Stil der norditalienischen Renaissancekastelle errichtet. Es ist mit vier Ecktürmen und einem Mittelturm versehen.

The castle is located in the midst of approximately one thousand acres of forest Granitz in the municipality Binz, which belongs since 1991 to the Biosphere Reserve Southeast Rügen.
