Located within a small park containing rose gardens and dedicated trees is a large Douglas fir tree. There's a small plaque at the tree's base that reads:

THIS TREE
DEDICATED BY THE VETERANS
ADMINISTRATION IN 1976 TO
AMERICA'S MEDAL OF HONOR
RECIPIENTS WHO HELPED
MAKE THIS BICENTENNIAL
OBSERVANCE POSSIBLE
"BY GALLANTRY ABOVE AND
BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY"

This Douglas fir has been slowly pushing up the concrete sidewalks that surround the tree's base.

Description of Memorial:
This dedicated moon tree and plaque are located within an arboretum-type area at the Veterans Administration complex. This VA hospital and administration buildings oversee military veterans throughout Oregon. The property is located in a quiet part of Roseburg and the grounds around the property were once used as a golf course but parts of which have been converted into a secondary veterans cemetery.
